Thursday September 7, 2017. The alarms sounded around midnight. Citizens came out of their beds to take shelter in the streets. No one imagined that the worst was yet to come. A few days later, on September 19, the anniversary drill for the 1985 earthquake became a prelude to a new tragedy. It's been a year since then. The country is still struggling to recover; but in the midst of that battle we have found a moment to commemorate. A moment to remind us that much needs to be done to heal, that the victims still need us, and that it will likely take us years to recover from that day. September 19, 2017 reminded us that individuals, companies, government and civil society organizations must be ready to act in the face of the unexpected. Implement your security and civil protection protocols and activate your social responsibility. Yes. We Mexicans act quickly and unite to AQB Directory face adversity, but what if we had also had more tools to act in an informed manner? Maybe, just maybe, it would be much easier to get up. 1. Prevent risks Mexico is a highly seismic territory. Cities, companies and organizations must have the necessary security measures to prevent risks in the event of earthquakes. Sensitize your collaborators Having the right facilities is not enough. It is the responsibility of companies to take appropriate prevention measures and ensure that their collaborators know the protocols in case of an earthquake. Carrying out constant drills is one of the actions that every responsible company must consider in its social responsibility programs.
