There is no morning in which the news does not wake us up with surprising and shocking new technological developments. In recent days, for example, we have learned that English judges are already turning to artificial intelligence to write sentences, that the startup 1MillionBot is developing a metaverse of conversational digital humans as an immersive and interactive learning library, or that the first device that can finalize smartphones have just been presented at CES2024, the most powerful technology event in the world. How have we arrived, almost overnight, to this situation of natural coexistence with machines? What is happening, plain and simple, is that we have entered a new era. And this doesn't happen every day. It happened with the control of fire almost a million and a half years ago: it allowed us to cook meat and with it the development of the brain. Later, with the domestication of plants and animals a little less than 10.000 years ago, the first human settlements arrived and agriculture and livestock farming appeared. Writing, 6.000 years ago, opened the door to History and communication.
And the current technological revolution, founded on the creation of cognitive artifacts based on what we have come to call artificial intelligence, exponentially increases our capabilities, in this caso the intellectual ones, opening the door to one of the last frontiers of the human species. Double challenge For the first time we are globally facing a double challenge that will define our future as a UK Phone Number species and that of life on the planet. First, resolve the tension between algorithms and androrhythms. Are human characteristics, such as emotions, executable by algorithmic machines? Second, achieve sustainable development that does not compromise the capacity of future generations and that guarantees a balance between economic growth, the environment and social well-being. A major double challenge for a new era characterized by five exogenous factors that come together. First, change the way to change. The human being has always evolved in a linear manner, with small exponential peaks like the invention of the wheel or the printing press. This has turned us into beings of linear evolution.
All our social structures are aligned with a change in which the time factor is essential: as long as there is time, the system will be able to function and adapt with dignity. But what if this change becomes exponential? Well this is what is happening. In the last 35 years, and sequentially, Exponential changes occur without giving them time to settle: internet, social networks, geolocation, the internet of things, blockchain, the metaverse, natural language processing technologies, robotics, nanostructures, quantum computing or nuclear fusion energy, have preceded or accompanied artificial intelligence. Perhaps it is time to start severely questioning the operation of all our social structures. Read the full article in El Periódico de España This article is part of a series of publications on the use and application of Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI tools in the legal sector, to raise awareness among professionals in this sector about the many benefits and advantages they offer. Artificial Generative Intelligence (AGI) is radically transforming the legal field. Anticipating these changes and taking advantage of their potential can generate significant transformations for jurists. Therefore, the Foundation Fide and Brain & Code present the Generative Academy and its AI training program for lawyers, IAGen for Law. IAGen for Law is presented.
